8.20.10 Joe Lagana is one of six Pittsburgh individuals chosen to receive the 2010 Pittsburgh Pirates Community Champion Award during the team's Heritage Weekend Celebration August 20-21. Awardees were honored in a special pre-game, on-the-field ceremony. An independent panel of judges – community leaders, civic leaders, Pirates employees, and members of the academic community – selected the recipients of this award.
8.14.10 A United Way Day of Caring team of Wyatt Incorporated employees with President Fred Episcopo spent this day reconstructing the Maze at the Haunted House in Hundred Acre Manor, with the company supplying all of the building supplies and the employees donating their time before and after their work days and on this construction day (value beyond counting). PPG Industries Inc. donated the 60 gallons of paint, also through the United Way Day of Caring.
8.13.10 The Jas. H. Matthews Educational and Charitable Trust honors HCEF with a grant of $500.
7.10 HCEF is the recipient of a $75,000 grant from the Heinz Endowment in support of the Homeless Education Network (HEN).
7.28.10 Steelers defensive end Brett Keisel appears on KDKA's Pittsburgh Today Live, speaking about the 2010 Gear for Grades school supplies drive to ensure that all children experiencing homelessness in Allegheny County and the City of Pittsburgh have the tools they need on that first day of school.
7.12.10 The Pittsburgh Foundation has honored HCEF with a grant of $50,000 in support of the Homeless Education Network (HEN), designed to improve attendance and academic success of children experiencing homelessness.
6.20.10 A group of local artists, poets, singer/songwriters, and an acoustic folk band joined together to raise $445 for HCEF through their "House Called Art" event.
6.16.10 HCEF received a grant of $400 from Pittsburgh Social Venture Partners Kids in support of the expanding volunteer program.

6.13.10 Concerts for Causes – featuring pianist Patricia Prattis Jennings, former principal keyboardist of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra – honored HCEF with proceeds from its June 13th "in-home" concert. This was the concluding event in the 2009-10 concert series.
