Stockings of Love
The holiday season is right around the corner, and in this season of giving, Citizens Bank, the Carnegie Science Center, and WISH 99.7 collaborted on the 2012 Stockings of Love Program to benefit children, youth, and families experiencing homelessness. All socks collected through this year's program will be donated to area homeless provider agencies through the Homeless Children's Education Fund. The program offered a really neat opportunity through the Carnegie Science Center, too. Learn more about it by reading the recent article posted in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and checking out the flyer below.

Once again, spooks and goblins invaded the Hundred Acres Manor, frightening the thousands of folks who dared enter the 2012 Haunted House from September 14 through October 31! As the Halloween industry’s leading publication HauntWorld wrote: When you visit Hundred Acres Manor, "Prepare yourself for a relentless journey of mind bending torture and hell that seemingly has no end." Despite a Halloween hurricane, Hundred Acres Manor had a great season and donated its proceeds to HCEF and Animal Friends.

Absolute Ballroom Pittsburgh designated the Homeless Children's Education Fund as the beneficiary of its August 24th Fundraiser Friday.

EZ Energy celebrated its vendors with a two-day outing July 9th - July 10th. Proceeds of the EZ Energy golf tournament benefitted HCEF and the U.S. Armed Forces. $1,000 was raised for HCEF.
The Monroeville Mall sponsored an HCEF Stand Up for Homeless Children in the Mall Food Court, Saturday, July 7. Those participating in the "Performance Art Installation" stood together in the court for 15 minutes of silence on behalf of the school-aged children identified as experiencing homelessness in Allegheny County and contributed school supplies.
Participants held paper masks like these over their faces:

Throughout the month of July, the Mall hosted a school supply drive on behalf of the children HCEF serves. Over $10,000 worth of school supplies was raised. All supplies were distributed through the 2012 Gear for Grades backpack drive.

HCEF's Second Annual Clubs for Kids Golf Tournament took place May 29, 2012, at the Sewickley Heights Golf Club. Our sincere thanks to the 60+ golfers who participated in this year's tournament, raising over $15,000! Stay tuned for information regarding the 2013 tournament.

The May 19th Young Brothers Tae Kwon Do "Inner School Tournament" at North Hills Senior High School benefited HCEF for the second year in a row. HCEF was the recipient of the $9,000 raised in support of programming for children unstably housed in Allegheny County by the combined donations of Young Brothers TKD and tournament participants.
Bill Wolfe, HCEF Executive Director is seen in the photo above presenting to Grand Master Kong and the entire Young Brothers TKD with HCEF's honorary Unsung Hero Award for their commitment, support, and dedication to HCEF's mission.
HCEF is honored that the Young Brothers' October tournament will also benefit these children.

One of HCEF's "Outreach Team" members organized an "Easter/Vendor" Show March 31st, 2012, at the William E. Anderson Library of Penn Hills. Featured were crafters and artisans as well as baked goods, woodworking products, health and beauty products, candles, Easter plants, and more. Browsers and buyers could participate in a 50/50 raffle, a Chinese auction, door prizes, and "really good food." Not surprisingly, there were frequent sightings of the Easter Bunny by some of the younger children.
