Thank you to all who joined the Homeless Children's Education Fund for our 4th Annual Summit!
Through the support of Highmark, BNY Mellon, and the Jewish Healthcare Foundation, the Homeless Children's Education Fund was proud to present a free seminar focusing on unaccompanied youth, with an array of powerful speakers, resources, opportunities for networking, and discussion.
We congratulate our 2014 award recipients! The Unsung Hero Award went to Dr. Jim Withers (Founder of Operation Safety Net), Lyndsey Sickler (Chair of Gay and Lesbian Community Center), and Joanne Goodall (Nurse Practitioner at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh). It is given to members of the community who are everyday heroes for countless children and youth experiencing homelessness. Their work may be unseen and under appreciated, but they have a steadfast dedication to serve. The Resiliency Award went to Ebony Dwyer, Joshua Diaz, Laura Six, Shyquan Stern, and Masha Tate, who participated in the Youth Voices panel discussion. The Resilience Award is given to young people who are leaders among their peers, despite having experienced homelessness.
